The children featured in the Super Power Kids book have one thing in common — they are all super heroes, blazing a trail through life and changing the way the world thinks and responds to children and adults living with disability.

Super Power Kids showcases the strengths and unique abilities of 35 West Australian children and speaks on behalf of all children living with disability and additional needs. With a diverse range of super powers and the support of their families, these children are creating a community that is more inclusive and welcoming for all children.

Featuring powerful images and compelling storytelling, Super Power Kids challenges the deficit language that is often used when speaking with and about children living with disability. It asks us all to pause and reflect on what it’s like to live with disability, to acknowledge the contribution that these children bring to our lives and provides the tools to develop mutually-fulfilling, rewarding and respectful relationships.

Ultimately, this book inspires us to live mindfully, to embrace diversity, practice inclusion in a way that is meaningful and reminds us all to celebrate the value of every human life. All children are born awesome — and this book demonstrates that.
