Family Fun Day | Mother's Respite Camps

These weekends have been held in Western Australia since 1983. The weekends, which are held twice yearly, have betweeen 90 and 120 mothers sharing the load of caring for a child with special needs.

These affordable weekends provide an opportunity for fun, friendship, rest and workshops. They provide mothers with a break from the stresses of caring, a chance to be themselves, to make new friends and to get away from the pressures and strains of the parenting tasks which consume most of their time.

Workshops are organised to provide a forum where the mothers have access to information, the opportunity to form networks and where they can learn additional parenting skills. Some of the topics covered at camps have included: Journal Process, Dealing with Anger, Sibling Issues, Growing Older with your Child, Sensuality, Suishi Making, Silk-Ribbon Rope Making, Tie-Dying, Accomodation for Older Children and others. There are also opportunities to practice Meditation, Tai Chi, Yoga or join a Dance Workshop. As well, we provide pampering sessions in Reiki Massage, Reflexology, Massage, Manicure and Hairdressing. These sessions are very well attended by
the mothers.
