Disability First Stop
Disability First Stop is a program funded by the Disability Services Commission. It was set up to assist people with a disability and their families obtain the help they need within the first 18 months of diagnosis. Disability First Stop specifically meets the need for more intensive support and assistance for people with a disability and their families during this initial period.
The service aims to reduce confusion about the range of disability services available and assist people with disabilities and their families to locate the services they need. Four organisations, including Kalparrin, participate in the Disability First Stop program.
Disability First Stop at Kalparrin is for families of children who have been newly diagnosed with a disability and who need help accessing the supports and resources available to them.
Disability First Stop partner agencies are:
People With Disabilities (WA) Inc. -- a consumer disability advocacy agency representing the rights and needs of all Western Australians who have a disability. Disability First Stop at PWD (WA) is the first stop for adults who have been newly diagnosed with a disability.
